The Big Huddle Case Statement for the reinstatement of football, the expansion of MSU Billings athletics, and building a multi-purpose stadium and field house is now posted on the Bid Huddle Website at bighuddle.com in the Learn More Section. This document which was presented to Chancellor Nook and athletic director, Krista Montague in April is a comprehensive analysis that explains how adding sports and a top notch facility blends perfectly with the school's goals and needs, as well as, greatly benefiting Easter Montana and the Billings community. Take the time to read the statement and learn about the possibilities presented.
The Case Statement for Reinstatement of an Intercollegiate Football Program at Montana State University-Billings has been submitted to Chancellor Mark Nook, Krista Montague (Director of Intercollegiate Athletics), and Chuck Wendt (MSUB Foundation President). This case statement is a comprehensive 61 page document composed for the Big Huddle by Dr. Gregg Waggoner from Rocky Mountain Consulting Services. It contains "information, data and research regarding the challenges, implications and benefits of reinstating a football program" at MSUB. Chancellor Nook and Director Montague are currently reviewing the case statement and the results of the Strategic Edge study on MSUB athletic strategy and the return of football. The Big Huddle has officially requested a qualified endorsement by July 1, 2015. Fund raising efforts are hinging on this endorsement and the Big Huddle is anxious to get started with the formal fund raising campaign.
In November 2014, a group of Big Huddle and Billings leadership visited the campus and athletic facilities of Colorado State University-Pueblo to gain first-hand knowledge of the school's success in reinstating football in 2008. The CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves are the 2014 NCAA Division II football champions. Before returning football and building a 6,000 seat stadium, track and field house, the school's situation was remarkably similar to what MSUB is currently experiencing with declining enrollment and funding issues. The Friends of Football organization in Pueblo was the driving force in the community to bring back football. The Big Huddle believes the CSU-Pueblo story could be repeated at MSUB. Go Jackets.
